Every house tells a story: What’s yours?
With an approach that celebrates the unique sense of place that South County offers, Architect Laura Krekorian brings New England “cottages” of all shapes and sizes to new levels of comfort, function, and design.
Getting Started
An avid fan of beach cottages, and the state-of-mind they represent, one of Laura’s favorite challenges is converting a seasonal home to fit year-round living. The path to the ideal beach house, however, is paved with both obstacles and opportunity. Our beautiful coastal area poses many challenges from design through construction. With in-depth knowledge of local permitting codes, coastal features, and the construction process, we offer an iterative design development process that begins with the exploration of sketched design concepts and results in homes that are tailored to their owners and the location.
“Laura seamlessly transformed our vision for the new cottage, blending elements of our dream with her unique flair for beach architecture. She thoughtfully captured the essence of coastal living while honoring the character and charm of our community, creating a space that feels both modern and timeless.”

“We asked Laura to provide us with addresses of some residences she had designed, and we took a few hours one weekend to drive around and have a look. From pictures we had an appreciation of her designs, but also wanted to view them in the context of the neighborhood. We were delighted to find that her homes fit seamlessly into the neighborhoods yet had elements of style that set them apart. We could tell that the details mattered to Laura and that is what sealed the deal for us.
She brought incredible perception to the design process. After seeing a rough layout that we liked and spending a few hours with us to understand the attributes of our future home that were important to us, she crafted a design that is beautiful and works perfectly for us. We have plenty of spaces to gather and others for privacy! She also sited our house on a difficult site with a hill and took advantage of our beautiful view of the water.”

“Although we had a lot of experience renovating older homes, we’d never built one from scratch. It turned out to be the most challenging project we’ve ever taken on, because we desperately wanted it to have a patina and not scream “brand new home.” We turned to Laura because we loved her work, and it was clear that she was open to our vision for this home, how we wanted to live in it and open it to our family and friends.
Many Pinterest boards, tear sheets, photographs, and conversations later, she captured exactly the right aesthetic we’d envisioned. One of the most impressive parts of her work was the time she spent on the property before ever putting pen to paper, evaluating light and views throughout the day to ensure she maximized both in the final design of our house.”

“There are a couple things that I would share about our time with Laura. First, she listened and did an awesome job getting everything we need into the house working within the footprint that was allowed. Second, what we love the most about the house is the placement of the windows, and how Laura maximized our views”

“I still remember how much my first meeting with Laura inspired confidence. I had an overall vision for our old and unique property which called for the caliber of external and interior design skill and style that Laura has. The project was complex with many moving parts and unforeseen challenges. The result was a renovation that respected the past with a gentle nod to the future. We couldn’t have been happier!”
